A research carried out by a group of scientists at Nationwide Botanical Analysis Institute (NBRI) right here has claimed that smoke emitted throughout havans reduces airborne micro organism to a big extent, minimising risk of infectious ailments.
“Burning wooden and medicinal herbs, higher often known as ‘havan samagri'(combination of wooden and odoriferous and medicinal herbs), can successfully cut back pathogens within the air,” NBRI’s senior scientist Chandra Shekhar Nautiyal mentioned.
The research had already been printed and accepted by Science Direct, a journal of ethnopharmacology.
“As described in Rigvedas, saints used to carry out agnihotra-yagnas to purify the atmosphere by sublimating the havan samgri in hearth,” he mentioned.
In a bid to check the precise affect of havans, an indoor research was carried out by the NBRI group together with Prof Nautiyal, Puneet Singh Chauhan and a fellow of Asian Agri-Historical past Basis Yeshwant Laxman Nene.
A fancy combination of over 5 dozen odoriferous and medical herbs was obtained from Gurukul Kangri Pharmacy in Haridwar and burnt in an indoor atmosphere to check its affect on the atmosphere.
